Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a Public Sector Undertaking of Government of India, proposes setting up “BSNL Broadband Gram-Seva Kendras” in rural areas of Gujarat Circle, shared access, delivery of content, services, information, knowledge, entertainment and communication to the rural folks, significantly enhancing the quality of life of every rural Indian The Gram-Seva Kendras are envisaged to extend Broadband connectivity to those who have no alternative access to Broadband and to those who have little to spend on such services. The rural people shall pay a small fee to access the services offered though these Gram-Seva Kendra.

Gujarat Infotech Limited (GIL) have been appointed as “Gram-Seva Kendra Partner” by BSNL. GIL will be responsible for setting up BSNL Broadband Gram-Seva Kendra at 1988 specified Rural locations in Gujarat, in a phased manner over a period of 18 months. Duration of the contract would be 8 years. With a view to rural development, and with a view to develop rural entrepreneurship, GIL will appoint local Entrepreneur “BSNL Broadband Gram-Seva Kendra ” at each location.
